Is PsyFi an AI therapist?
No. PsyFi is clinical documentation software for licensed professionals — it never talks to, assesses, or interacts with patients. It drafts notes and reports from what you tell it happened. You are the clinician. PsyFi handles your paperwork.
Is PsyFi HIPAA-compliant?
PsyFi is HIPAA-aligned, BAA available — private infrastructure, encrypted databases, access controls, and audit logging, with PHI/PII de-identification stripping identifiers before any data reaches an AI model. HIPAA has no formal certification for software vendors; we provide the safeguards and the signed BAA to support your compliance program.

Can I use PsyFi with my EHR?
Yes. PsyFi produces clean text you can copy and paste into any EHR. There is no integration required — you draft in PsyFi, review the output, and paste it into SimplePractice, TherapyNotes, or whatever system you use. Keep your EHR; PsyFi does what its AI can't.
Which assessment instruments does PsyFi support?
BASC-3 parsing (PRS, TRS, and SRP), WISC-V, WAIS, and Woodcock-Johnson are all supported today. The assistant can also work with any scores you paste in as text. See report writing →
How does de-identification work?
PsyFi uses Microsoft Presidio to detect and redact PHI/PII — names, dates, locations, and other identifiers — before session details are sent to the AI model. The AI sees de-identified text only. You get the drafted note back with your clinical context intact.
How does PsyFi record and transcribe sessions?
Hit record at the start of a session — in the Chrome extension at your desk or in the PsyFi iOS app — for in-person or telehealth visits. Transcription runs on PsyFi's own self-hosted infrastructure, so no third-party transcription service ever sees your audio, and you get a speaker-attributed transcript and a structured note draft in seconds. Do I need my client's consent to record sessions?
Yes. Sessions should only be recorded with informed client consent, and obtaining it — per your state's rules and your own consent forms — is the clinician's responsibility. Recording in PsyFi starts and stops only when you say so; nothing is captured in the background.
Is session audio stored securely?
Yes. Audio is tied to your account only, encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest (AES-256) from the moment it is written, and stays in AWS US regions. Recordings remain under your account's control and are never used to train AI models. How audio is handled →
What note formats does PsyFi support?
SOAP, DAP, intake assessments, progress notes, psychological evaluations, discharge summaries, and treatment plans — across modalities like CBT, DBT, and EMDR. Every draft is editable, and you review it before it goes anywhere near your chart.
Can I keep each client's notes and documents together?

Is my data used to train AI?
No — never. Your sessions, notes, chats, and reports are not used to train AI models, ours or anyone else's. Identifying details are also de-identified before any AI model call.
How is PsyFi different from using ChatGPT?
General-purpose chatbots aren't built for PHI: consumer ChatGPT doesn't sign a BAA and isn't designed for clinical documentation.
